Dhangadhi : A demonstration has been staged in Dhangadhi since today morning to protest a proposal that the permanent capital of Province 7 be located in Godavari Municipality of Kailali.
The protestors have been demanding that Dhangadhi be declared the permanent capital of the province. A special suggestion committee formed by the provincial assembly suggested declaring Godavari Municipality the province's capital and naming it 'Sudurpachim Pradesh'.
The ongoing Provincial Assembly meeting which is discussing the proposal is scheduled to decide on the issue today itself.
A constitutional provision says that a two-thirds vote in the Provincial Assembly is required to pass a proposal relating to deciding the location and name for the permanent capital of a province.
