PM Oli urges community, private schools to ensure quality education

Kathmandu : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on community and private schools to work for the enhancement of quality education so that no Nepali have to go aboard in search of quality education.

While inaugurating the sixth Educational Fair organised by the Kantipur Media Group and Higher Institutions and Secondary Schools’ Association Nepal (HISSAN) amidst a programme here today, the prime minister said, “The State has invested in education, but it is not sufficient. But it does not mean that private investment in education has to be discouraged, paving the way for capital flight. Both private and community schools should work for building the encouraging atmosphere for quality education.”

He said the government would pursue a policy of regulating private schools and elevating the level of community ones. According to him, the elevation of community schools would automatically pose challenges to private schools.

He however promised the encouragement and security of private investment, calling upon the private sector to take the lead in the nation’s development. Also speaking at the programme, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokhrel pledged cooperation with private schools in efforts for ensuring quality education at home.

He urged private schools to work with assimilating the service-oriented feeling. The theme of the four -day fair is ‘quality education within Nepal'.
