Kathmandu : The Parliamentary Hearing Committee under the Federal Parliament of Nepal has scheduled its hearing of proposed Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shamser JB Rana on coming Sunday.
The committee today held discussions with those people who filed complaints, arguing that Rana was disqualified to be appointed the CJ.
A total of nine people reached the committee in writing against the proposal to appoint him the CJ. They were summoned to the committee meeting today to further clarify about the complaints.
Earlier, the Constitutional Council had proposed the name of Rana, the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court completing three years of service, as the CJ and sent it to the committee for a hearing.
The committee had called for, if any complaint against him through a notice till December 26.
He has been accused of giving verdicts on the cases against the constitution, acts and rules on the basis of personal influences. Following the discussions, the meeting decided to summon the proposed CJ for 2:00 pm Sunday for a hearing, said committee member Jitendra Narayan Dev.
