Rajbiraj, Saptari : Five people were killed when a passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into a pond at Inarwa of Hanumannagar Kankalani Municipality-10 in Saptari along Bharadaha-Rajbiraj road on Friday evening. At least three dozen others were injured, four seriously. The reason of the accident is waiting.
The deceased have been identified as Bechani Devi Yadav, 57, Makhani Devi Yadav, 65, Sikila Devi Sah, 70, and Dinesh Rajak, all from Dakneshwori Municipality-11. Identity of another deceased has not been known.
Of the injured, half a dozen have been rushed to B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, and the remaining were receiving treatment at Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhabesh Rimal.
The ill-fated bus (Ko 1 Kha 2799) was returning from Barahachhetra of Sunsari district with 60 passengers onboard when the accident occurred, said Rimal.
