Kathmandu : The Sanskar Samaj Nepal has run a public awareness initiative at New Bus Park, Gongobu to minimize road accidents during the festival period.
Considering the pressure of travelers heading home for the festivals of Dashain, Tihar and Chhath, the Society began a four-day awareness programme on Friday. Under the initiative that runs from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, the bus drivers and passengers and the general public are informed about various matters relating to road traffic including to inform the traffic police in case of violation of traffic rules.
The society has also been running various traffic awareness programmes at various locations of the valley, according to its Chair Pashupati Gurung.
More than two thousand passenger buses leave the new bus park every day since the beginning of the Dashain festival last week. A help desk has also been set up at the bus park premises at the joint initiative of the Department of Transport Management and Metropolitan Traffic Police Division.
The help desk is expected to help travelers solve their problems relating to their travel and tickets, said General Secretary of Nepal National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs, Saroj Sitoula.
