Surkhet : Chief Minister of Karnali Province Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has said that poverty alone is the main opposition of the government.
He said this while speaking in the ‘meeting cum interaction of the people’s representatives with the chief minister’ programme organized by the Kalikot District Coordination Committee here on Friday.
The Chief Minister reminded the people’s representatives present on the occasion that poverty was the major obstacle for development at the provincial and local level and it was the common responsibility of all to fight against poverty.
“It is necessary for every citizen to work with the goal of attaining self-reliance to fight against poverty,” he said, adding that no society, region and country could make progress without work and efforts.
Chief Minister Shahi opined that lack of effective implementation of development projects was behind the country’s under-development, describing this as the greatest challenge.
Provincial minister for internal affairs and law Naresh Bhandari said the government was steadfast for the development of the Karnali province.
Similarly, province minister for physical infrastructure development Khadka Khatri said the provincial government was facing maximum problems for pursuing development projects as it has to work from scratch due to the lack of physical infrastructures and funds.
The chiefs of all the nine local level governments from the district on the occasion shared that the centre has not still fully delegated the right and authority to the local levels and they were facing lack of human resources at the local level.
Meanwhile, 17 close-circuit cameras have been installed in Khandachakram, the headquarters of Kalikot district, on Friday. Chief Minister Shahi inaugurated the newly-installed CCTVs.
