‘Hetauda inappropriate location for provincial capital’

Bhaktapur, 16 Feb : Members to the House of Representatives and State Assembly from Province 3 have demanded that the permanent capital of the province should not be in Hetauda. Instead, it should be set up somewhere at an appropriate location.

Their claim was that the previous caretaker government announced Hetauda as the provisional capital of the Province understating people’s sentiments and without evaluating its geographical position.

Speaking at a face-to-face programme at the Rafat Sanchar Club today, lawmaker from Kavrepalanchowk, Gokul Baskota, said Hetauda was not a suitable location to be the capital of Province 3 in view of its geography. He was of the view that Kavre was the best option for setting up the Province headquarters.

Parbat Gurung of Dolakha argued that Hetauda could not be the appropriate location for becoming the capital of Province 3 that comprises 13 districts from Rasuwa to Sindhuli.

State Assembly member from Bhaktapur 2, Sashijung Thapa accused the previous government of declaring Hetauda as the temporary provincial capital under the influence of some ministers. Either Bhaktapur or Banepa is technically and geographically best location to set up the Province capital, according to him.
