Six dead in Dhanusha road mishap

Dhanusha, 27 Jan : Six people died in a jeep accident in Ganeshman Charnath Municipality in Dhanusha district this morning.

The speeding jeep (Ba 9 Cha 3314) heading to Jhapa from Kathmandu fell off the road near a bridge over Kamala river at Portaha of the municipality along the East-West Highway at 2:30 am, according to the District Police Office, Dhanusha.

It is said that Nayaraj JB, 29, of Dharmadevi-9 in Sankhuwasabha; Sharada Regmi Dahal, 35, of Biratnagar-4; Gyan Bahadur Chauhan, 27, of Nirmalidanda in Khotang; Prahlad Neupane, 33, of Morang; Khem Kumar Ranamagar of Letang-8 in Morang and Pranita Rai of Rabi-6 in Panchthar district died in the fatal incident.

Police Inspector Madhav Raj Kafle said that five passengers were rescued from the accident site. All five injured are receiving treatment at Birendra Bazaar-based Dukhanidevi Hospital in the district.

Police have held the driver of the ill-fated jeep Sudip Prasad Pokharel, 28, of Kamala Rural Municipality in Jhapa district.
