Cold wave claims lives

Humla, 4 Jan : Twenty-seven-year-old Rana Devi Pariyar and Nandakala Pariyar of Tajakot rural municipality-5 died of cold and fever. Their residence is around 50 miles away from district headquarters, Simkot.

Likewise, six locals including Bhyale Karki, 91, Khaire Shahi, 88, Gore Jaishi, 78 and Shanker Rokaya of Sarkegad rural municipality, ward 7 and 8, Rodikot village also lost their lives to cold in the last week of December.

A team of five health workers led by Dr Nabin Rokaya from the Humla District Health Office on Wednesday had reached the affected areas with medicines after the directive from Acting Chief District Officer Riddhi Prakash Sitaula.

Mainly the old-age people have been suffering from continuous cough and throat pain following sharp decline in mercury with snowfall.
