Nepal about to enter new era: Vice President Pun

Nepalgunj, 14 Dec -Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has expressed the belief that the country’s transitional politics will come to an end after the election to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies.

Inaugurating the 8th National Book Exhibition and Educational Fair organized by the Nepal Books and Stationery Entrepreneurs’ Association here today, Vice President Pun said the positive results of the implementation of the constitution would be availed of after the elections and the nation would move towards prosperity.

“Nepal is at the threshold of entering a new era. Now, all of us together should propel the nation on the path of economic prosperity and development. The political parties need to continue working in collaboration, dialogue and consensus,” the Vice President insisted.

He underlined the need for bringing a National Book Policy for the management of books and libraries for promoting creativity and reading culture.

The Vice President was presented with a token of love on behalf the organizers.

On the occasion, Vice President Pun honoured former Vice Chancellor of the Tribhuvan University, Prof Dr Suresh Raj Sharma, film director Yadav Kharel, litterateur Sanat Kumar Regmi and education campaigner Hari Prasad Rawat in recognition for their contribution to the promotion of art, literature, culture and education in the country.

Similarly, the Vice President felicitated Sanjaya Singh, Narayan Gyawali and Basanta Lamichhane for their notable contribution to the development of social sector.

Regional Education Director Hari Gautam, Dr Sharma and Federation central president Hari Prasad Aryal also underlined the need of promoting the book industry and reading culture.

There are 140 stalls at the book exhibition cum educational fair that will continue till December 23.
